(Prevocational Services)
Life Skills Development – Level 4 for adults are training services intended to support the participation of the recipient’s prevocational services – including volunteering, routines in the community, and incorporating the fundamentals of therapeutic recreation. These services will be offered 2 times a week for 5-hour blocks. Totaling 10 hours of weekly prevocational services. A minimum of five (5) hours weekly will be dedicated to outcome-oriented activities (in-house).
The other aspect of our LSD4 Prevocational Services training will consist of Therapeutic Recreation.
Above all, both segments of the LSD4 program will encompass the Right to choice. As a fundamental human right and a core principle, participants will have the ability to choose the therapeutic recreation that is best suited to their needs. Additionally, bearing in mind the overall goal of the program- The right to choose will allow each individual to prepare and train with non-job specific tasks tailored to each individual- that will allow him/her to participate and integrate in community-like settings, more confidently and prepared. The time limit set forth for the LSD4 program is 36 months, and all programs will be tailored to meet these guidelines.
DST provides support, education and services to all individuals in the community who live with a developmental disability.
